European Radiopharmacy Consortium

The European Radiopharmaceutical Technologies Consortium (ERT) is a partnership of key European stakeholders in the German & European radiopharmaceutical, nuclear, medical and entrepreneurial ecosystem. The operating company ERT GmbH – European Radiopharmaceutical Technologies is a Joint-Venture between the German industry supplier Sykam Group, the Norwegian State Medical Cyclotron Operator (NMS – Norsk Medisinsk Sykotronetsenter) and the German venture-builder Blue Ribbon Partners.

The project comprises the following main areas:

  1. ERT Research & Production – development state of the art radiopharmaceutical isotopes for clinical use (in particular oncological applications) and production (high-powered 30 MeV cyclotron / Cyclone 30XP facilities).
  2. BioDrome – developing a hub of excellence outside Munich (former military airfield Fürstenfeldbruck) with more than 100.000 sqm space with high-power cyclotron facilities, lab space for pharma & start-ups, GMP facilities and a dedicated clinic for radiopharmaceutical treatments.
  3. Intellectual property IP – patents to produce radiopharmaceutical therapy nuclides filed and in preparation.
  4. ERT Foundation – a non-for-profit to safeguard the availability of relevant isotopes and raw materials for European research, start-ups and clinicians.

Clinical partners

The Consortium’s clinical partners are both research hospitals in Munich, the München Rechts der Isar (Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Weber) of the Technical University Munich and Großhadern (Prof. Dr. Peter Bartenstein) at Ludwig Maximilian University Munich. It was Prof. Bartenstein, despite being a leading expert in beta-radiation (Lu-177 PSMA) based therapies for prostate cancer, pioneered one of the first successful studies with alpha emitter (Actinium 225).

Scientific Advisory Board – the project is furthermore supported by the world’s pre-eminent researchers, industry experts and clinicians from Norway, Germany and the UK.
